Foundation board and staff members often wear many hats in their communities – they act as investors, spokespersons, issue experts and mentors.
Rather than idly stand by a growing number of local and national funders have joined together to invest in innovative research and housing first programs that end the cycle of homelessness. They have supported advocacy efforts to change state and federal responses to homelessness, and have helped to sponsor local campaigns to drive public will to end homelessness in communities across the country. In the process, these funders are helping to reshape the way in which we think about and respond to homelessness.
This Issues Explorer introduces five central Grantmaking Strategies for any funder interested in supporting the solutions described in the previous slideshow.
