In a joint statement sent on November 25, the Alliance partnered with several other national organizations to call upon the next Administration to make ending homelessness a national priority.
President-elect Obama has already addressed issues related to homelessness on his transition website, which lists a commitment to establishing a "zero tolerance" policy toward homelessness among veterans, increasing the minimum wage, restoring cuts to public housing operating subsidies and the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, and supporting the National Housing Trust Fund.
The group's letter to the new President is centered on similar issues. It asks the next Administration to invest in solutions to homelessness by taking six steps focused on increasing people's access to affordable housing, supportive services, and quality healthcare and education.
