For the past five years the foundation and corporate members of Funders Together have been investing in, evaluating and promoting policies and practices to achieve the goal of ending homelessness in America.

Our founding Board includes representatives of national, regional and local grant makers, including Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Melville Charitable Trust, Conrad Hilton Foundation, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Paul and Phyllis Fireman Foundation, Osteopathic Heritage Foundation, Campion Foundation and the Butler Family Fund.

Working closely with allies in the public, private and nonprofit sectors, we have become a knowledge and resource center for funders seeking programmatic solutions and innovations to end homelessness.

Funders Together is seeking an energetic, entrepreneurial Executive Director who shares our commitment to ending homelessness by leveraging the power of philanthropy. Working in concert with a very active and engaged board the executive director will be a key architect, implementer and spokesperson for an emerging and powerful national network of funders. The position will be based in Boston, Massachusetts.

Requirements

• Demonstrated vision and capacity for both entrepreneurial and collaborative leadership
• Significant hands on experience in the field of philanthropy, preferably including grant making and mission related investing
• Strong skills relevant to building membership networks
• Demonstrated marketing, organizational and financial management skills

Key Job Responsibilities

• Work closely with the board, its officers and committees to shape and implement the programs, policies and a strategic plan of Funders Together
• Supervise fund-raising development and financial management of the organization to achieve organizational sustainability
• Lead member outreach and recruitment to build a national base of funders and increase their commitment to best practices in grantmaking to end homelessness
• Represent Funders Together to catalyze opportunities for public-private partnerships to end homelessness (this position will travel up to 25% of the time)
• Build a small professional staff team
• Create a national network of regional funder alliances focused on ending homelessness

• Demonstrated skills as an effective advocate
• The ability to work in an entrepreneurial environment
• Familiarity with online and social media communications
• Knowledge of the field of housing and homelessness
