Specific objectives for Funders Together are to:
- Generate the philanthropic commitment necessary to transform political will and policies, by leveraging at least $100 million in funding from other national and locally-based foundations, financial institutions and businesses
- Build 150,000 units of permanent supportive housing for the more than 250,000 people experiencing homeless in the United States, and
- Provide the services needed to tackle homelessness.
Members of Funders Together employ a variety of approaches to help achieve these objectives, including:
- Funders Together’s leadership is engaged in ongoing conversations with the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Department of Social Services, and other key Federal agencies to determine how private philanthropy can best leverage its resources and lessons learned.
- Funders Together members provide financial support and guidance to our implementing partners, the National Alliance to End Homelessness and the Corporation for Supportive Housing, as well as to other prominent policy, research, and advocacy groups.
- Funders Together members provide financial support and guidance to local and regional housing and service providers who are creating and implementing best practices in ending homelessness.
- Funders Together members lead and participate in regional collaboratives and campaigns to shape public will, share the message that homelessness can be ended, and influence local policy.
