General Advice for Homeless Individuals & Families
Thank you for contacting Funders Together to End Homelessness. We are sorry to hear that you are having a difficult and frightening time. We do not provide direct assistance or referrals, but here are some resources that may be of assistance:
- To find out about emergency assistance in your area check with your local department of social or human services, which can be found in the government pages of your local phonebook. Also check with your United Way branch, which in many areas can be reached by dialing 2-1-1, or the Salvation Army.
- For assistance specifically with default/foreclosure or rental needs, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has provided a list of approved housing counseling agencies.
- To contact homeless services and advocacy groups in your area, national directories are available on the websites of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the National Coalition for the Homeless. These groups may be able to help you identify a number of resources, including free legal services in your community.
- Additional resources can be found at http://www.ich.gov/slocal/links.html.
